Laconic:
using or involving the use of a minimum of words : concise to the point
of seeming rude or mysterious
I recently saw STATION AGENT which has a laconic character. In the
Q&A, the writer/director mentioned his sense of the movie as a Western,
perhaps emphasizing the laconic main character for me.
I just read a TV guide review of THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE, about the
laconic barber.
Of course, everyone knows about he LACONIC WESTERN HERO...but I wonder
if it is more reasonable to believe in the laconic Western cowboy who
might have spent most of his time alone, on the plains, with the herd,
etc...and had little 'gossip' to talk about.
People today are flooded with information from the media and are often
crowded with others...there's always something to talk about.
