My favourite thing about the Film-Philosophy salon is the way these
vague queries generate uncontainable floods of film titles. For death
row movies, I recommend The Executioner's Song, a 1982 TV movie version
of Norman Mailer's book about Gary Gilmore with Tommy Lee Jones as the
eponymous killer. I hope recommending a TV movie isn't a faux pas in
such esteemed company as this, but I remember it being pretty good. Not
sure if it's available in any easy-to-access format these days.
