Job Openings for Heterodox Economists at La Trobe University in Australia
(the home of the outstandingly famous heterodox economist, John King)
There are three Lectureships, one in Macroeconomics, one in Econometrics and one in Macroeconomics/Finance, and one Senior Lectureship in Finance. The latter would probably need quite good publications. Publications wouldn't harm applicants for the former, but people who have just finished their PhDs and have clear research plans would certainly be eligible. Women especially are encouraged to apply.
Note: the pay reads really badly at the present exchange rate ($A1 = US60c) ; however purchasing power parity actually does apply in this case . When John King came to Kansas City last October for the history of heterodox economics conference, he found that one Aussie dollar buys much the same here as one US dollar in KC. So a single person could live quite well on a Lecturer's salary, especially if they didn't insist on living in a trendy high-rent inner suburb.
Direct formal enquiries/applications to Imad Moosa, the Head of Department ([log in to unmask]) .
Direct informal inquiries to John King - e-mail: [log in to unmask] John would just love to hear from anybody who is interested in the positions.
The macro job needs to be filled urgently, as someone has to do John's first-year teaching in second semester (starting 20 July) when he is on study leave!
As an added bonus to all reading this e-mail, attached is a paper by John on an obscure book about the future of capitalism written in the 1930s and published by the New Left Book Club.
