FUTUREHISTORIES
FUTURE HISTORIES is a cultural heritage organisation. Created to maintain
archives of African, Caribbean and Asian performance in the UK, the Black
Performance and Carnival archive collection exists to promote access,
education and research and raise awareness of the crucial need to preserve
black British cultural heritage;
RE-MEMBEING BLACK PERFORMANCE - a project in which FUTURE HISTORIES
collaborates with Middlesex University and the Access to Archives (A2A)
Programme, is an important first step towards our aim; to re-assemble,
organise, catalogue, encode and ensure the long term preservation of two
major theatre archive collections: Black Theatre Forum (BTF) and Nitro
Theatre Company (formerly known as Black Theatre Co-operative).
CREATIVE DIRECTOR - 2days p/w
£26,000 pro rata
To lead, manage and deliver this project and its objectives by using your
leadership, financial management and interpersonal communication skills
coupled with your knowledge and expertise in the area of black British
theatre and its heritage.
SENIOR ARCHIVIST - 21hrs p/w
£21,000 pro rata
To work closely with the Creative Director to deliver the archival
description, preservation and management elements of the project by using
your experience of automated archival cataloguing to accepted national and
international standards coupled with good communication and reporting
skills. Ideally you will also have knowledge of the performing arts sector
and black British History.
PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR - P/T
To provide effective administrative support for the project. Experience in
arts administration highly desirable. Travel expenses will be covered.
