Does any one know the precise mechanism (with a reference if
possible) as to how hypercalcaemia causes nausea and vomiting?
If I remember, calcium stimulates gastrin secretion but I don't know
that this would cause nausea and vomiting. Doing a quick Medline
search I've found an allusion to an effect on the smooth muscle of
the gut or on CNS stimulation but don't know if this is correct and
how it would work.
Thanks in anticipation
Anne
