Would appreciate any advice/thoughts on this one
47 YEAR OLD MALE. Seen in OPD
Albumin consistently < 10 g/l (checked with different assays) for > 1 year.
Other LFT = normal (total protein just below lower end of ref range)
Feels well. No oedema / weight loss
Urine protein = neg
Faecal alpha 1 antitrypsin = normal
CRP = normal
B12/folate = normal
Pancreolauryl test / faecal elastase 1 = normal
Coeliac screen = neg
Serum electrophoresis - reported as 'acute phase' response 1 year ago
Doeas anyone have experience of the reliability or otherwise of Faecal
alpha 1 antitrypsin? Anyone doing 51-Cr-albumin excretion studies?
