Subject: RCPath consultation document: Who can request a test?
Dear Colleague Ref:0757183
This issue was first raised at Council in relation to a member\'s query
about non-medically qualified practitioners requesting laboratory tests.
It was agreed that with the increasing demand on pathology services,
general guidance was needed in this area. These draft guidelines have
thus been produced by the College Registrar, Dr Helen Williams. In
accordance with the College publications policy, they are now available
for comment before final publication. The medical defence organisations
are also being consulted.
The draft can be found in the \'Discussion documents\'
section of the password-protected Fellows and Members Area
of the College website, www.rcpath.org (click the
blue \'Fellows and Members\' rectangle at top of our homepage
and follow instructions to enter).
Comments should be emailed to [log in to unmask] by
the deadline of 23 January 2004, with \'Who can request a
test\' in the subject line.
Please note that web assistance and the allocation of
passwords will not be available from 24 December to 6
January, due to Christmas leave.
Thanking you in advance for your contributions.
Best wishes,
Professor John A Lee
Director of Publications
