We do protein electrophoresis on slightly hemolyzed samples but reject moderate and gross hemolysis. The main reason for the rejection is the appearance of the hemoglobin band on the electrophoresis resembling a monoclonal band in the gamma region. We would end up doing immunofix on those hemolyzed samples and that's not cost effective.
