Dear All
I have just been "accosted" at an SOM meeting by a local GP/Occ Med
Practitioner about the government's coming initiative in this area of
"live for ever at a price" pills.
His questions were about the apparent lack of lipid screening necessary
before or after starting and the lack of any requirement for safety
checking e.g. CK AND LFTs. He was wondering if the RCPath/ACB were
involved. He had thought that screening and safety checks were best
practice but were they?
It struck me also that there may be a drop in GP lab requests and Lipid
Clinic workload when this programme was up and running.
Any thoughts?
