We have been using the reference ranges published in the annals vol 31 Jan
1991 for the paediatric ref.ranges.
Gloucester checked this ref. range and made us aware of couple errors in
this paper.
From the original paper in clin chem vol 30 1984 the age range for 10-16yr
dopamine/creat ratio is 0.531 mmmol/m creat and in the annals its up to
0.332mmol/m creat. The other error is the age range 10-16yr adr/creat in the
original paper is 0.036 and in the annals quoted as up to 0.027 mmmol/creat.
Number of subjects is different in the 2 papers though!
I've tried to contact the authors of the annals paper but get no response.
I'd like to make people aware of the above error(?) and what ref. ranges do
you use for paediatric ref. ranges and if I could use them for our purpose.
Does anyone know the effect of renal failure on urine and plasma
catecholamines? I think cats are marginally elevated but have no references?
