The Modernisation Agency Critical Care Programme will end in September 2004, although it is expected that the developments in critical care services made under the programme will continue. A national event, which is probably the last which will be organised under this programme, will be held in Birmingham in March 2004 and a preliminary flyer is attached.
The profile of Healthcare Scientists has been raised and their essential contribution to critical care service is now better understood as a consequence of our participation in this programme (although we became involved later than other professional groups). Biochemists have been the most active of all the HCS groups in critical care delivery groups and critical care networks. It's important that we continue to participate, and planning for this event does assume our contribution as an integral part of critical care services. If you wish to contribute or have any ideas about how you would like to input to this, please contact Louise Tilbrook or me - we are both on the design team.
Further details and registration information will be made available in a few weeks' time. Registration is free and will be on a first come, first served basis, so please do apply early if you wish to go.
