One of our renal physicians has asked for a PTH related peptide or
Immunoreactive PTH in a breast cancer patient with hypercalcaemia and
suppressed plasma PTH levels. Does anyone have an assay?
As I was taking the phone call for the above query, a second renal physician
came in and wishes to investigate a possible renal tubular acidosis. One of
his text books recommends urine bicarbonate and urine pCO2 measurements.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with any experience of doing these before
we produce some dubious number from our analysers or wreck a blood gas
analyser.
