We had a look at this; the problem we saw for POCT use was, as Jan indicates, the time critical steps, which aren't likely to be very practical in a busy clinic setting

There are other Hba1C devices around. The Glycosal by
Mediserve gives a value in 8 minutes but has four
separate time critical steps and a CV which precludes
being able to distinguish a 1% change in HbA1c.
