WHO Definition, Diagnosis and Classification of Diabetes mellitus and its
Complications
http://whqlibdoc.who.int/hq/1999/WHO_NCD_NCS_99.2.pdf
states that pregnant ladies who meet the WHO critera for EITHER impaired
glucose tolerance OR diabetes are now classified as Gestational Diabetes.
ie 2 hr glucose > 7.8 implies GestDM
Thus it would appear our scottish colleagues are still using the old
diagnostic criteria for IGT
moral - have your babies in Scotland - you should have fewer complications
as well as higher health care provision !
With best wishes

Hi Mohammad
We use the values given in the SIGN guidelines
http://www.sign.ac.uk/guidelines/published/index.html
i.e. fasting >5.5 mmol/L or 2hr > 9.0 mmol/L for the diagnosis of GDM.
