Dusting off my old SI Conversion Guide.
It says
General Rules.
In the SI system lowercase letters should be used for symbols(use mol, not
Mol). However there are exceptions to this general rule. An uppercase "L"
represents the litre to prevent confusion between a lower case "I" and the
number "1". Also when the unit derives from a proper name, the first letter
is capitalised. For example Pa is the abbreviation for pascal rather than
pa. When the proper name is written in full, however not even the first
letter is capitalised (e.g pascal) except for Celsius which is capitalised
in both its abbreviated and full length forms.
A symbol is not followed by a period unless it at the end of a sentence (use
mol, not mol.), and symbols are not pluralised (use kg, not kgs). When a
number precedes an SI unit, the unit symbol should be used rather than the
full name of the unit (use 500m, not 500 meters).
Hope this helps

Subject: A basic question
When reviewing the literature, I come across the ml
and mL, dl and dL, and l and L. Which are correct?
Thank you in advance
