With the sort of social life our patients get around the Cambridge Colleges,
or the Newmarket Stables, we sometimes advise 48 hours' abstention from
EtOH, as well as a 12 hour fast before lipids. Presumably you can manage it
by bleeding your Welsh patients for fasting lipids on a Monday?
With fasting glucose, particularly as an increasingly sensitive threshold
test to "diagnose" DM, do you think one ought to advise on carbohydrates in
the diet prior to the fast?
Best wishes,
Les
