What was his baseline (before treatment with statins) value for CK? How
often was his CK measured? Does he have any other abnormal laboratory
values? Did CK activity change at all after the treatment with statins was
discontinued? It could be that he has an occult muscle abnormality that
became apparent after statin treatment and remained overt even after
cessation of the treatment. Anyone has other suggestions?
Macro-CK (the most common explanation for persistent increased CK
activity) usually is found for a long time the in circulation,
therefore the evolution of CK is important in this case.
