I can also confirm 2 or 3 similar cases resulting in considerable
hyperactivity in obstetricians, but no adverse effects in mother or baby.
Results revert very quickly to normal post partum. I am sure I have seen
this in print but cannot retrieve it at the moment
with best wishes

I saw a case like this a few years ago; it turned out to all be
placental ALP and levels fell rapidly post-partum. Mum and baby fine,
obstetrician in panic.

Subject: Raised ALP in pregnancy
We have a 28y.o. lady close to term with what appears to be a normal
pregnancy. Her ALP results are as follows; 15/9........... 972 IU/l (N<
117 IU/l adult) 13/9.......... 1038 12/9.......... 1115 11/9..........
1086 10/9.......... 1152 Her UEC, LFTs and CMP are normal. The
isoenzyme analysis suggests a placental origin. Has anyone seen this
picture? The literature of the past ~5 years describes one case with
similar results and a benign outcome. Regards DB.
