Interesting personal history Mark, &, yes, Davenport wasn't making a new
point,. but he was arguing, much like you, that even back then Ives was
being lost, &shouldn't be.
There is a witty SF story, 'The Amount to Carry,' by Carter Scholtz, in
which a magic hotel that spans continents (so one can enter in Pargue, in
New Yprk, in Hqartford, & so that Kafka & Stevens can hear Ives noodling at
a piano in one of its rooms. When read, it all makes sense....
But, yeah, why isn't that music better known?
