Dear Listers,
Can anyone point me in the direction of examples of the use of culverts diverted off a river to provide a large head of water for driving a water-wheel in an industrial situation.
I am currently surveying such a possible culvert. It is 4.5m wide and up to a minimum of 3.5m in depth with a shallow dome stonework roof. The culvert is 'S' shaped throughout its length, and up to 60m in length. At the outlet end are the remains of an early concrete type dam presumably with a sluice to drive an overshot wheel.
Any assistance much appreciated.
Kindest regards,
Trevor.
I have digi pics if required.
