Dear all,
First of all thanks to all who replied to Dade Behring
Dimension analyser question.
Active PSA forms stable, 1:1 complexes with
Alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (PSA-ACT), protein C
inhibitor (PSA-PCI), alpha-1-protase
inhibitor(PSA-API), and alpha-2-macroglobulin
(PSA-AMG). Neither PSA-PCI nor PSA-AMG are
immunodetectable in blood. Hence, PSA-ACT and PSA-API
represent the majority of PSA complex, though PSA-API
represent small proportion. PSA-ACT is the major PSA
form in serum and strongly influenced by prostatic
cancer(PCa). Reports indicate that cPSA measurements
enhance diagnostic performance compared to total PSA
and reduce unnecessary biopsies, cost savings and
reduce morbidity associated with biopsy.
Does any one or any hospital use cPSA in clinical
practice to decide whether to go for biopsy or not????
I hope the question is clear!!!
thanks in advance for reply
