We run urine protein on the Hitachi 911 using the Roche benzethonium
chloride method. The package insert says that the benzethonium chloride
produces turbidity when added to protein denatured with an alkaline
solution.
Does anyone know if this turbidity is due to reaction with any specific
amino acid side chains or is it proportional to peptide bonds like the
biuret reaction?
Thanks. -Jim
