Dear All
We have a lot of TB in our area and are looking at safe practices for
handling TB+ve sample through blood gases.
Any suggestions welcome.

Subject: VS: Pleural fluid pH
Hi Rachel
We have been mesuring pleural fluid pH on blood gas analyser for severla
years.
Our protocol is:
- inject pleural fluid in heparin vacuum tube as soon as possilble.
- Sentrifuge the tube
- aspirate fluid from the tube in the syringe
- put a cloth catcher on a top of syringe (from Instrumentation
Laboratories)
- inject fluid to the analyzer
We havent got any broblems. We have been using IL BGE and Synthesis
analyzers.
