We evaluated one of these recently and found terrible correlations between
the Chiron 855 and the IRMA for Na, Ca+, and especially pO2 - apparently a
problem with sample application not pushing the calibration gel completely
off the electrodes. The precision for the pCO2 was also poor from aqueous
QC. I'm not convinced that a limited number of users would get enough
practice with the injection technique to get reliable results especially for
the pO2.
There are 1 or 2 abstracts/papers confirming this. The large wastage of
cartridges repeating the analyses will also make this analyser very
expensive to run.
