Dear Colleagues,
I enclose the results of my question regarding suggested reading for
trainees. I have simply listed all those that got more than one
mention. Most responses acknowledged that we are all continuing to
learn, even one distinguished respondent who described himself as an
"elderly trainee" despite authoring several textbooks (which he modestly
didn't mention). So I have not graded responses by time in training.
There are a number of obvious favourites, the top two (Marshall and
Tietz) having several versions which were not always specified so I have
lumped them together while giving details of both.
I have taken the authors names as given me. I have assumed these are
the correct authors for the current editions, (information which is
surprisingly difficult to find), but check you are getting the latest
edition if you are sourcing a bargain on the net.
The suggestions of one respondent regarding management texts are added
at the bottom as "helping to make sense of the NHS", (thank you
Elliott).
I also enclose the West Midlands Reading list which is very helpful and
may help plug some gaps. My comments are also added as a word file.
I am indebted to my daughter Eleanor who indexed the final list and
found the ISBN numbers on the web from the information I gave her. Any
errors or omissions are probably due to my handwriting !
