In response to Susanna's comments about this Doris Day comedy (although not
funny in the way Susanna means it!), Neil Sinyard and Adrian Turner in their
book on Wilder make a useful comparison between this tiresome cycle and
Wilder's Kiss Me, Stupid, which parodied its smugness. Kiss Me, Stupid is not
the easiest Wilder to digest, being a creature of its time too. But a useful
moment in the '60s sex romp, and arguably a good deal more 'real' than the DD
vehicle. Interestingly, Peter Sellers worked on it until suffering a massive
coronary. I still dream of discovering the Sellers footage hidden away
somewhere. Should be worth an article in Sight and Sound! Anyway, carry on...
