Even these boxes are not without problems. I remember many years ago that we
received in Cardiff some samples from a town not far from you which supposedly
contained samples for PTH. On opening the box the request forms were there but
no samples were to be seen. I do not know what made me do it but I cut open the
bottle of saline to find the unseparated samples embedded in the ice. I still treasure
the photographs. I have had wonderful experiences of a similar nature with doctors
sending biopsies to the lab. The request 'put them on ice' being taken a little too
literally. Unfortunately out there is always someone who knows better
