It has been about a year since I have looked at the list, and it is good to
see some excellent discussions still on this list.
With regards to the study by Scrimshaw and Chris Maher, I agree with your
comments. In essence, if you look at their protocol, it is quite an
aggressive program of "neural glides." As I understand it from David
Butler's explanations, neural mobilisations should be painfree. I believe a
type III error was made in terms of the research design and its conclusions.
No wonder the suggestion was made that neural mobilisations were ineffective
and may IN FACT BE HARMFUL. For those who haven't read the article, it is
worth a read, especially the comment by Dr Fraser that "Physiotherapy may in
fact be harmful to patients."
