Training & Development Lead for
Public Health & Public Involvement
Based in Oxford
Salary circa £25-£30k depending on experience
37½ hours per week
3 year fixed term contract
We are currently seeking an experienced candidate to take on the above
exciting opportunity. The postholder will take the lead on the development
and implementation of public health and public involvement training on
behalf of all Primary Care Trusts in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. The
post holder will link with and support the Directors of Public Health and
their departments, and support and develop the public health network.
The aim of the role is to increase capacity and capabilities in the public
health function as detailed in the The Report of the Chief Medical Officer's
Project to Strengthen The Public Health Function (DoH 2001) by maximising
the breadth and range of existing public health skills and knowledge in the
NHS workforce across the county. The postholder will also be expected to be
responsive to local needs and the existing local public health workforce.
Key to this post are the recommendations in Strengthening Capabilities
(section 7.7 in the CMO's report (DoH 2001)). This includes developing "a
public mindset" throughout the workforce and giving priority to
strengthening implementation skills.
This role is accountable to the Director of Primary Care Development, Vale
of Aylesbury PCT and will be managed by the Director of Learning &
Development, Public Health Resource Unit, Oxford
