Relocalisation and Alternative Food Networks: A Comparison of Two
Regions

Up to £20,313
You will undertake research on this ESRC funded project investigating
relocalisation and alternative food networks in the West Midlands and
South-West of England. One post is at Coventry University, the other at
Exeter University. You will work under the direction of either Brian
Ilbery and Moya Kneafsey (Coventry) or Andrew Gilg and Jo Little
(Exeter).
The Post
The position involves conducting and administrating research at
post-doctoral level. The main duties include day-to-day project
management, developing the conceptual framework for the project,
designing qualitative interview schedules, developing qualitative
consumer research methods, carrying out interviews, analysing results
and writing working papers. Appointment will be from March 2003 for a
period of 24 months.
Qualifications Required
You will hold, or have submitted a PhD in a relevant area of social
science. You will be a highly motivated individual, with expertise that
includes: knowledge of rural development and/or local food systems
literature; experience of qualitative research methods and analysis
(preferably with experience of using qualitative analysis software);
experience of carrying out literature reviews; report writing skills.
You will be encouraged to present the research findings at conferences
and other dissemination activities and the post will provide an
excellent opportunity for publication and career development.
