medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Doctissimi,
I don't know whether to apologize for posing a
question having nothing to do with medieval religion
or not. It just may be that it is directly or
indirectly related to our list subject.
I am watching Simon Schama's "History of Britain" and
there is an object on the left of the screen,
functioning as a sort of symbol or logo of the series,
that looks like a stylized chrismon: an upright with
an X across it. It appears to be made of wood or some
dark metal. Can anyone tell me if this is a famous
object everyone but me knows or if it is a set piece
designed for the series? If the former, what is it? It
may very well be something of papier mache designed to
look very ancient and mysterious.
Thanks in advance. And apologies if this object is
neither medieval or religious.
MG
