Dear Phyllis,
Maximilian was martired in Celeia (Noricum Mediterraneum, today Slovenia)
according to the leggend. The leggend is very late, after 1265. It is in
some points similar to the leggend of s. Pelagius. All older traditions
about Maximilianus are bound to Salzburg und Passau, not to Lorch
(Lauriacum).
The leggend analised some years ago R. Bratož in: Il cristianesimo
aquileiese prima da Costantino, Udine-Gorizia, 1999, 235-252
With best wishes, Matej Župancic
