The London Language and Cultural Learning Show

The show is based at the Novotel London West, Hammersmith, London and
runs from 10am to 6pm on Friday, 1st November and 10am to 5pm on
Saturday, 2nd November. If you are a languages teacher, tutor,
trainer or lecturer, you can visit the actual exhibition free of

Terry Lamb
Terry is a lecturer in Education, School of Education, University of
Sheffield. He was President for the Association for Language
Learning. This session will provide up-to-date information on recent
educational developments with particular reference to National
Language Policy. He will explore the ways in which a National
Language Strategy is developing and discuss the far-reaching
implications for the future of language learning and teaching within

Opportunities
Bill Musk
Bill has been a member of CILT's National Advisory Group since its
inception in 1999. He is currently Change Manager of the Education
and Training Group at the British Council. He is President-elect of
the Association for Language Learning. This session will outline the
current situation in the United Kingdom and will focus on progress
since 1999 in England with the Good Practice Projects, which CILT co-
ordinates with DfES support, and other initiatives. It will examine
the practical challenges of implementing the Government's development
plans during the next decade. The issues of continuity and
progression at the secondary stage will be aired also as a part of

Andrea Osborne
Andrea is Head of German and Latin at Beal School, Ilford. Earlier
this year, she was featured in the TES MFL special. This session will
have the emphasis on the students and exactly how learning takes
place: rising to intellectual challenges, developing thinking skills,
articulating their ideas, processing information in different ways,
reflecting on their learning. It will also deal with the theory that
lies behind the TLF/MFL strand of the KS3 National Strategy.

Bob Read
Bob is Head of the Anglo European School, Ingatestone and Chair of
the International Baccalaureate Schools in the UK. This session will
outline the IB Diploma, the oldest post-16 programme now available in
the UK. The structure of the Diploma, its status with universities
and how schools can seek accreditation to offer it. Running the IB in
combination with A-Level and AVCS and a brief overview of the middle
and primary year programmes. A Case study which demonstrates the

Julie is a Visiting Research Fellow, Institute for Policy Studies In
Education, University of North London. Multiple intelligences,

at these new education buzzwords. Julie is both a practical PGCE
tutor and author of stimulating materials, providing activities that

Stephane Derone
Stephane is webmaster of 'bonjour.org.uk' and NOF trainer. He
currently teaches MFL and ICT at Thomas Lord Audley Language College,
Colchester. Even if your department isn't lucky enough to have one,
this demonstration of the interactive whiteboard will give you lots
of stimulating ideas which can be adapted for use in the classroom,
along with some strategies for using PowerPoint without a board or
projector. Learn how to create presentations in minutes for
introducing new topics, grammar games etc. Integrate specific
websites and ICT into your schemes of work. (NB: Don't worry this

Stephen Glover
Steve works for digitalbrain.com in Blackburn. Formerly a language
teacher, he was the creator of the 'Really Useful French Site'. By
