medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
One site which may be little-known, since it is newish, is IntraText
(not only medieval). It gives e-texts and offers the possibility to
concordance them. Well worth a look! I'm most interested in the Latin,
but other languages are represented too. I'd recommend going there and
poking about: <http://www.intratext.com/>.
A warning! It looks to me that these people have simply trawled the
internet for texts uncritically. E-texts can often be unreliable, and
IntraText seldom gives a printed source for the texts they repeat from
elsewhere. They DO simply repeat texts without further editing: =
problems (at least in Latin) of i/j, u/v etc. (not at all good for
concordancing, and e-texts tend to have scanner-creep anyway).
Given that the bulk of texts are so far unsourced, the site has limited
use, but the basic idea is a good one.
The interface and sponsorship list suggests that these people have
money. If they could spend a bit of it on improving reliability, this
could develop into a quite useful site.
