We still welcome papers for the session below. We are interested in papers
that deal with gender and sexuality issues.
Thanks,
Maria Bullon-Fernandez
Kalamazoo 2003
Special Session
England and the Iberian Peninsula, 13c-15 c.: Cross-Cultural Exchanges
Papers may explore any aspect related to the literary, cultural, political,
and historical relationships between the English kingdom, on the one hand,
and the Castilian, Aragonese, Navarrese and Portuguese kingdoms, on the
other, between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. For instance, papers
may investigate cross-cultural influences; literary representations of
Spanish or Portuguese culture in English culture and vice versa; political
and dynastic relationships, such as the Lancastrian attempt to claim the
throne of Castile; trade and economic relationships, religious interactions,
e.g., through pilgrimage routes. We welcome a variety of theoretical
perspectives.
Please submit a one-page abstract including contact information by September
15. Submissions and inquiries may be sent to:
