The Information Management Research Institute here at Northumbria is
embarking on some work for NEMLAC on the value and impact of the People's
Network in the twelve public library authorities in the North East.
I have been looking for studies related to the use of ICT in the public
library environment, with particular reference to the People's Network. I
have done the usual LISA and Google trawls and these produced, among
others, the VITAL report and associated documents; also Turner and Kendall
on Public Use of the Internet at Chester Library. In addition, Richmond
upon Thames's website yielded a very useful user survey produced by Derrick
Fernandes, the PN Project Co-ordinator.
I wondered if any other authorities had produced user surveys or
evaluations connected with the People's Network in their own libraries and,
if so, whether they would be willing to share these? I would be most
interested to see what approaches others have taken. Please let me know if
you have any such studies which I could look at, either in hard or
electronic versions.
Thanks in anticipation
