Dear list members
as this topic has come up on a couple of lists within the last two days.
I would like to remind list members that before going on leave they should
take action to prevent the much loved out-of-office replies being generated
by email systems.
You have two options -
1) using rules to control the autoreplies (you may not have this facility -
local authorities have a variety of different email systems so no simple one
size fits all answer to this)
2) temporarily suspend receipt of mail
To suspend or leave this list go to the JISC mail web interface and click on
this link:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/LIS-PUB-LIBS.html
This takes you to the Archives page for the list - select the 'join/leave
the list' option (third button down) and enter your email address. Select
the leave list option - it is straightforward and only takes a couple of
minutes
You will need to rejoin when you return from leave.
Alternatively - select the *nomail *option at the bottom of the options -
this will suspend mail (you will still need to enter your email address) -
again you will need to go to the interface on return to reset this to resume
mail.
I shall be on leave from 23rd August to 2nd September 2003 and will not be
around to deal with any problems. In the meantime for general information
about using Jiscmail lists see:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/docs/user-ref-card.htm
I have copied the following from the Jisc pages for those of you who prefer
to use email to suspend mail - this enables you to unsubscribe from one or
all Jiscmail lists using commands (you will need to remove your signature
if automatically added if using this option):
