Hi everyone
This message is to draw your attention to the session entitled:
"Styles of continental compression: thin-skinned vs thick-skinned simple
shear and pure shear" (session G23.1)
covened by Stefano Mazzoli (Univ Urbino) and Rob Butler (Univ Leeds); as
part of IGC32 (August 20-28, 2004, Florence).
We're hoping to promote debate as to the crustal-scale structure of
mountain belts and their kinematic evolution. So please treat this as a
very preliminary call for papers (but hold fire until IGC issue the 2nd
circular).
Although the congress is still a long way off, the organising team will
putting the final list of symposia together this autumn. They act on the
basis of returned questionnaires from their website that express interest
in symposia and field trips etc. So if there's even the remotest chance
you might attend the next IGC you should return your questionnaire asap
(which doesn't commit you to attending!). The census deadline is end August
2002. Apparently unpopular symposia will be axed or merged with others so
now's the last chance to influence the overall programme.

cheers
Rob Butler
