medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Well, there you go. What the younger generation misses out on... Dinosaurs, indeed. And as for 'kiddie lit'... Pooh was, as Maddy points out, a fount of wit and wisdom, a fit object of devotion with improving hagiography, grievously traduced by Hollywood. I once had a cache of tertiary relics, chiefly A. A. Milne's Life in several volumes with iconography by E. H. Shepard, and a votive object which accompanied pilgrimages to the bridge over a stream where the ritual of Pooh-sticks was performed - namely a honey jar. O Tempora! O Mores!
OK, back to the Middle Ages...

>(The bear of very little brain is OF COURSE Winnie-the-Pooh - see the

Thank you--and others who contacted me privately--for enlightening me. It
may be sacrireligious to admit this, but I didn't read most classic "kiddie
lit" until I was an adult and I never read Pooh. When other kids were
reading Pooh, I was reading about dinosaurs. ;)
