medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Thanks for the information on the cult of Columkille in
Bretagne. Does anyone have similarly detailed information
for other areas? Is there such a thing as a scholarly study
of the cult of St. Columba?
as to Pelagia - interesting to note that she kills herself
rather than waiting to be killed. St. Augustine, surely,
would not have approved! Does anyone know of similar examples
of women venerated as martyrs for killing themselves
rather than being killed /raped by heathens? (I believe
there is an example in teh Dialogues of gregory the great,
i would like to find well documented cults ).
