Plusieurs livres liturgiques à l'usage du diocèse de Saint-Malo (Bretagne)
inscrivent au 22 juin "Aaronis confessoris" : Chartres BM 536 (xv ème s.);
Propre de Saint-Malo, 1615, etc. En effet, Aaron est le nom d'un ermite qui
vivait dans une île qu'on appelait de son nom, et qui est devenue depuis la
ville de Saint-Malo. Il figure dans la "vie de saint Malo" (version de Bili,
clerc d'Alet, lib. I, c. 43 )
Il y a eut sans doute confusion avec le martyr gallois du même nom, inscrit
par Gildas à côté d' Alban, et fêté le même jour. De plus, en Bretagne, les
communes de Saint-Alban et de saint-Aaron sont limitrophes.
Dans un inventaire du mobilier de la cathédrale de Saint-Malo (c. 1790) on
signale "...deux chefs ou bustes d'argent, fort légers, qui renferment les
testes ou crânes de saint Aaron et saint Honorat; deux bras de bois avec les
mains, revêtus d'argent ouvré, renfermant des ossements ders bras de saint
Malo et saint Aaron".
