Hi
Here in Gloucestershire we use a booking and management system which
automatically 'clears down' any changes to the memory and desktop when a
customer's session on the PN is complete. We allow downloading to the hard
disc during the customer's session, and indeed will gather cookies and other
random files during any period of use, but this is what is cleared away at
the session end. We also allow downloading to disc as we have an automatic
virus sweep which checks all discs and rejects any problem ones.
We've had a few problems with the booking system but it's working
beautifully now and is accessible over the internet via our homepage at
www.gloscc.gov.uk/libraries if you are interested.

Subject: Internet Download Permissions
Dear All,
Here at Bournemouth Libraries we are currently looking into Internet
downloads and whether unlimited permission should be given to the public to
download. What we are interested in finding out, is if whether other
authorities have allowed unlimited downloads on their public PCs? If so,
how successful has this been?
Many Thanks,
Sally Bolton
