Your goal is certainly a worthy one, but probably a very
difficult one. It sounds like you want something that will enhance or
activate the observational abilities of a student. That's no easy
task, especially because it depends on each student's innate ability,
and because commonly each outcrop is different in its own
idiosyncratic fashion! I for one would like to see whatever you
develop on this goal.
Other than check list tables in the standard textbooks, the
only thing I've ever seen along the lines you are describing are the
very old AGI data sheets.
