European multicentre study on congenital toxoplasmosis (EMSCOT)
POSITION: RESEARCH FELLOW IN STATISTICS/EPIDEMIOLOGY
A full-time research fellow is required to lead the statistical analyses
for the European Multicentre Study on Congenital Toxoplasmosis (funded by
the EU). The study aims to determine the effect of prenatal treatment on
progression to clinical signs and symptoms in early childhood, including
developmental outcomes. Data collection on these outcomes in 900 three year
olds is nearing completion. Applicants should hold a postgraduate
qualification in statistics or have equivalent training in quantitative
analytic methods. The postholder will be expected to develop an
understanding of the epidemiology and biology of congenital toxoplasmosis
and to work on methodological problems with supervision. Applicants should
have experience in statistics applied to health, epidemiology or social
sciences. Those with a knowledge of SAS are preferred.
The post is for 1 year in the first instance from or as soon as possible
after 1.7.02 with the possibility of extension. The appointment will be on
the research or academic scale with an annual salary on the RA1A scale
(points 4 to 11), starting between £19,585 and £26,327 (including London
weighting of £2,134 pa) depending on age and experience. Interested
