Does any public library service have experience of operating short loan
collections or policies, similar to those that exist in many academic
libraries?
Such collections might include extra copies of the most popular standard
textbooks from general lending collections, or from reference collections
items such as exam papers or government documents. Loan periods might be
from overnight/weekend to perhaps one week.
If anyone does operate this kind of service I would be interested to know
what kinds of material are included, who is eligible to borrow, and what
sanctions there are for late/non return (and how are they enforced), as well
as anything else you think relevant to introducing a short loan service.
Thanks
