Dear colleagues
apologies for x-posting - and for taking a shortcut.
Does anybody know of any systems that can be used on a
hospital wide basis to monitor the quality of nursing care. I am
interested in finding out about systems that
a) use indicators that are genuinely responsive to the actions of
nurses (as opposed to the actions of the healthcare team in
general)
aa) Respond to changes in nursing practice
b) Use indicators than could in theory be compared between units
within the same hospital and or between hospitals
c) preferably have reported reliability and validity for the indicators
used
d) Have practical effectiveness i.e that the data required to generate
the indicators can be collected to a consistently high quality and
without requiring unfeasible large additional workload for clinical
staff.
e) Should be deigned to work within the IT capacities available in a
standard NHS DGH (!)
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I will of course summarize
replies for the list.
