Dear Angela,
Many years ago there was an arrangement with the midwives and our
physiotherapy department. They owned the TENS machines. When a mother to be
was nearing the end of her pregnancy the midwife would drop the TENS in to
us, we would get the patient in and show her how it works. Then the midwife
would get it back and take it to the patient when the labour was starting.
That was in the days the midwives were not allowed to apply the TENS machine
treatment. Once the patient was taught how to use it, she could put it on
herself.
Now the midwives still own the TENS and they show the patient and we have
nothing to do with it anymore.
