fWiw, in the best of her historical novels (_Destiny of Fire_), Zoe Oldenbourg
has her albigensian heritic "preacher" going around the countryside in mixed
company, i believe.
fiction, yes; and from the 50s, yes; but all of Z.O.'s medieval novels are
quite well founded on original sources, it seems to me.
beats reading all that dry, akademical prose, at least (but, alas, probably
not citable in your own dry, akdemical prose).
