medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Colleagues,
A friend on another list writes that they are
discussing the iconography of the female-headed
serpent. My own opinion is that this imagery would
suggest that temptation comes from within oneself.
However I may be imposing much later theology on an
earlier period. Does anyone on this list know who's
behind this interesting iconographical topos? (Someone
on the other list suggested Bede.)
Thanks,
MG
