I had about a dozen very supportive replies to my message about the
neglect of the Society of Chief Librarians Web site at
http://www.chieflib.org/
Plus a couple of messages apparently from members of the organisation who
believe that work is in hand to remedy the deficiencies. Since I was told
the same thing over a year ago, I'm afraid they got an 'I'll believe it
when I see it' response from me.
I've had no reply from SCL itself to my suggestion that their site is so
seriously out-of-date that it should be removed until they are in a
position to maintain it.
I can see why some subscribers to Lis-Pub-Libs might be shy of voicing an
opinion openly on this topic but the absence of any discussion on the
list itself was a surprise.
The most eloquent response of all: the offending site is still online and
remains as embarrassing as ever.
